Question:
How do I determine the proper stair rod width for my carpet?

Answer:
Most people agree that a minimum of 1/4" between the carpet edge and bracket on either side (for a total of 1/2") is most pleasing to the eye. The rod itself slides a 1/2" into each bracket. With this in mind, rods should be ordered at least 1½" longer than the width of your carpet runner.

Question:
How do I cut my stair rods if my carpet is not the standard widths?

Answer:
Stair rods can easily be cut in the home with a metal cutting hack saw. We recommend using a saw blade that has 12 to 24 teeth per inch for a faster smoother cut.

Question:
How do I maintain my stair rods' beautiful appearance?

Answer:
Each Exquisite stair rods set is finished with a protective lacquer coating to resist tarnishing. A soft, dry cloth should be used when cleaning. Avoid cleansers and abrasives which will wear down or remove the protective finish.

Question:
Don't stair rods secure the carpet to the stairs?

Answer:
While they do appear to hold carpet runners on steps, stair rods are not a form of carpet installation. Usual carpet installation techniques, such as adhesive pads, staples, nails, or tack strips, are necessary for all carpet runners.

Question:
Can I install stair rods over my existing carpet?

Answer:
Installing stair rods over existing carpet requires longer screws. Bracket screws must pass through the carpet and pad into the step itself. An additional 1½" in screw length should suffice.

Question:
Are tubular rods strong enough?

Answer:
Exquisite's tubular core (hollow) rods are constructed from 100% solid brass with .03" wall thickness and will not dent under normal use.
